Summary:
- Responsible to lead, manage & coordinate multiyear project(s) relating to critical systems and complex system integrations, as well as other high-risk projects that span across multiple business units.
- Manage resources, schedules, risks, issues, scope, financials and adhere to quality & SDLC control guidelines throughout the project life cycle.
- Verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives as relates to improving project delivery thru participating on Project Management Quality Excellence (PMQE) team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple complex and large projects simultaneously.
- Drive project delivery from inception thru production release including scope definition, requirements, development, testing and release phases.
- Manage the stakeholder expectations to ensure ownership and success.
- Conduct appropriate project planning activities with business and other stakeholders to identify project scope, desired business outcomes, critical success factors, resource requirements, implementation methodologies and plans.
- Proactively identify, track, and mitigate risks, issues and dependencies.
- Ensure the overall success by being accountable for all aspects of the project and providing overall project transparency.
- Monitor and controls project scope and ensure proper change control procedures are followed.
- Responsible for making and driving significant decisions that impacts the overall delivery of the initiative.
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation and comply with EmblemHealth Enterprise Project Management standards and policies.
- Provide high level executive reports and detailed updates to all stakeholders on a continuous basis.
- Guide and direct project team members to ensure compliance with set standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers clearly and timely as needed.
- Prepare and maintain effort estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project.
- Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards.
- Partner with Executive leadership to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful delivery of the project’s scope and objectives.
- Provide strategic leadership for delivery of large-scale change initiatives.
- Provide leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
- Identify, track and manage project cost.
- Ensure availability of financial, material and human resources required to successfully complete a project.
- Work to identify improvement opportunities and continuous enhancement of internal procedures, standards & templates for efficiencies.
- Perform other EPMO responsibilities as assigned or required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters preferred
- PMP or advanced project/program management certification required
- 10+ years’ professional business experience, preferably in the Health Insurance industry required
- 8+ years’ experience managing large & highly complex projects, including 5+ years’ experience in healthcare required
- Ability to manage large-scale IT and non-IT related projects that involve significant risk required
- Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and cross-functional teams simultaneously required
- Ability to develop and manage multi-million-dollar budget(s) required
- Expert knowledge of project management practices required
- Working knowledge of IT operations and Infrastructure, systems engineering principles, Mainframe and Distributed systems, systems integration, Web services / eBusiness, and Application Development required
- Experience with Waterfall SDLC methodology, preferably Agile/Scrum required
- Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve a common business objective required
- Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities required
- Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills required
- Well-versed at using modern work management and collaboration tools, preferably Microfocus PPM required
- Highly proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office tools, specifically MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio required
- Flexible in a fast-paced dynamic environment with shifting roles and responsibilities required
- Experience leading the work of outsource partners (multi-supplier environment) preferred
