Summary of Position

  • Responsible for EmblemHealth’s direct to consumer markets including Medicaid and the Individual market—on and off the 
    Exchange. Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and other functional areas/departments to develop and implement
    strategies that closely align with business objectives of driving membership growth and retention of EmblemHealth’s 
  • Medicaid and Individual consumer business. Develop and implement integrated marketing plans tailored to each market 
    segment ensuring optimal target market penetration.
  • Ensure alignment across all market segments maximizing EmblemHealth’s ability to compete, grow and retain membership.
  • Monitor the regulatory environment and its impact on all market segments to identify, anticipate, and respond to threats and 
    opportunities; develop appropriate strategies to ensure compliance and adaptability.
  • Identify, hire, & train staff members, developing them into strong performers and creating high-performing, results-oriented 
    teams; ensure alignment of staff members’ effort with departmental and corporate goals.


Principal Accountabilities 

  • Collaborate in the development of overall strategy to support EmblemHealth’s sales efforts in multiple markets (DTC, 
    Medicaid, etc.). Lead strategy implementation to ensure that all aspects of strategy execution maximize chances for 
    success by aligning with departmental and corporate goals, allocating the appropriate resources to accomplish what is 
    needed, and by leading change when required.
  • Develop workforce and set goals utilizing both internal and external data, metrics, etc. to ensure motivation is in place 
    to achieve consistently excellent, measurable results in the targeted areas (growth, retention, penetration) for specific 
    market segments.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and inspire staff; establish goals, monitor and manage performance of team using internal 
    systems/analytical tools, information, and feedback. Identify workforce gaps and develop talent to fill gaps. Provide 
    support for staff by addressing and resolving obstacles and impediments to performance.
  • Develop and nurture the appropriate community-based relationships to help build the EmblemHealth Brand. 
  • Research, identify, and drive the development/creation of marketing approaches that target individual segments/ 
    demographics to facilitate market penetration and optimization of revenue and profit generation.
  • Identify both internal and external factors that hamper the organization’s ability to deliver results; ensure that the 
    staff, the department, and the enterprise have workarounds, contingencies, and alternative paths to success in the 
    event of sudden, major shifts in the environment. 
  • Act as change agent to drive and effect organizational change ensuring key deliverables are met.


Qualifications 

Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Business, or related; Master’s preferred.


Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • 12 – 15 years of relevant professional work experience, in positions of increasing responsibility/complexity/impact.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations regarding Medicaid, Medicare, Child and Family Health Plus products.
  • Deep understanding of direct marketing and sales for Medicare, Medicaid, CHP, and FHP products including targeted 
    population, marketing strategies and budget management.
  • Ability to manage, develop, train, motivate and counsel staff.
  • Experience in dealing with diverse community segments to effectively approach each consumer group.
  • Ability to understand, plan and review organizational structures and workflows to increase productivity.
  • Broad range of communication skills, effective public speaking, group facilitation, coaching, and effective writing.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills to develop marketing and management strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook).
